Simona Cirio, MSMFT

 

Simona Cirio is a postgraduate clinical fellow at The Family Institute. She holds a Masters of Science in Marital and Family Therapy from Northwestern University with clinical training at the Family Institute’s Bette D. Harris Family and Child Clinic. Ms. Cirio has studied psychology in US and Italy and has a special interest in the integration of context, culture, and society in therapy. She treats individuals, couples, families, and children. Her clinical training includes play-therapy with children and work with adolescents and pre-adolescents in high school and middle school, where she has led social skills groups for girls.

 

Clinical interests: family systems and transitions; couple’s intimacy and satisfaction in long-term marriages; premarital counseling; women’s and gender issues; individual development in the life cycle (female adolescence, parenthood, mid-life and aging); prenatal and post-partum counseling; mother-daughter relationship; parent-child relationships and attachment; self-esteem and identity; multiculturalism and immigration; grief and loss; generativism and spirituality.
