Sylvia Bell Lackey, LCSW, CADC, MCEd

 

Sylvia Bell Lackey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.  Ms. Lackey holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and graduate degrees in Christian Education and Social Work from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary and Loyola University, respectively.  Ms. Lackey is also a Certified Addictions Counselor, (CADC).

 

Ms. Lackey has worked most recently as a Clinical Case Manager with The Family Institute’s Park Boulevard Program. Ms. Lackey assisted public housing residents toward self sufficiency and to meet site specific criteria to become Park Boulevard residents.  As a family therapist with Gateway Youth Care Foundation in Lake Villa, IL, Ms. Lackey worked with court mandated adolescent males and their families around the issues of substance abuse in a residential setting. Ms. Lackey has worked with the chronically mentally ill in the in-patient psychiatric unit of St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, IL.  As a case manager with Catholic Charities in North Chicago, IL, Ms. Lackey worked with homeless women and their children. Additionally, Ms. Lackey has experience as a hospital chaplain with Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, one of the top 100 teaching hospitals.

 

Ms. Lackey seeks to combine spirituality in the practice of psychotherapy and support the client’s choice to use their faith tradition to navigate through the challenges of life.

 

Ms. Lackey treats individual adults and couples.

Ms. Lackey was recently featured in an article about infidelity in Medill News Chicago.  Check it out here.  She also does presentations on various clinical topics.  For example, in September Ms. Lackey presented at a conference on depression at Mt. Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church.
