Child Clinical Psychologist

The Institute for Stress Control in Hinsdale, Illinois is looking for a Child Clinical Psychologist to do individual and family therapy. This position requires a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with an emphasis in child clinical, preferably with post-doctoral experience. A background in cognitive-behavioral orientation as it applies to child work is important, although the practice's work draws from a variety of theoretical orientations and treatment modalities. The Institute's child and adolescent clients present with disorders such as: anxiety, depression, behavior problems, OCD/phobias, academic and social problems at school, family issues, and grief/loss. The practice also regularly receives referrals for medical/pediatric/neurological issues such as ADD/ADHD, executive-function disorders/NVLD, autism-spectrum disorders, Tourette's syndrome, and coping with medical conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and CF (including compliance difficulties). Experience with child psychological/psychiatric disorders is required. Additional background in outpatient pediatric psychology is preferred.

The Child Clinical Psychologist will be expected to build a full-time private practice quickly, and significant assistance will come from the Institute in the form of new-patient referrals.

Executive Director of Counseling and Student Development

Job Description: Position # 4138

 

Requirements:
The successful candidate is required to possess a doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology (PhD or PsyD) and be licensed or fully eligible for licensure in Illinois as a clinical psychologist. The incumbent must have demonstrated administrative leadership and a minimum of five years of clinical experience.
Experience with human resources, budget management and risk management practices are important in the selection of the new Executive Director as well as strong experience in professional consultation, crisis intervention and development of collaborative relationships. The successful candidate will have an ability to work in a multicultural environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and completed an internship in an APA-approved program.


Responsibilities:
The Executive Director of Counseling and Student Development is responsible for the design, implementation, strategic planning, vision, and evaluation of a comprehensive counseling, psychiatric, and student development program for university students. The Executive Director represents the department and the mental health needs of students to the NIU community, establishes departmental goals and objectives, supervises and evaluates departmental staff, and has fiscal responsibility for the department. The Executive Director must be able to exercise excellent judgment and have an ability to analyze complex scenarios when dealing with multifaceted mental health and emergency situations, and serves as the chief mental health officer for the institution. The NIU counseling center also hosts an APA approved internship program and maintains full IACS accreditation. The Executive Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Services.

The Executive Director leads a department that provides psychiatry, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, consultation, training, educational programming, outreach, and research. The department consists of 15 mental health professionals and 9 graduate level trainees. The department develops, implements, and assesses programs in conjunction with periodic documentation of the needs of NIU students. The Executive Director will focus on establishing collaborative relationships with, and consultations to, university faculty and staff, students, and other constituent groups.
