Elaine Oh, MA is a 1997 graduate of the CPSY program at The Family Institute. She currently works for PepsiAmericas in Schaumburg, IL. Elaine’s job as Manager for Organizational Capacity is to partner with various people in the company and create programs to increase employees’ effectiveness. This could involve working with a specific department, like sales, or it could mean creating a company-wide program.

Beginning in June, Elaine will enter her new position as Human Resource Director, Corporate Functions. While she is a specialist in her current role, this new job will be more generalized. Anytime a senior leader has a question or concern regarding human resources, Elaine will be their main contact.

Before starting at PepsiAmericas in April of 2006, Elaine worked at Kraft Foods in similar types of roles. In her spare time, Elaine enjoys playing volleyball.

Darryl Turner, MA is a 2003 graduate of the Counseling Psychology Master of Arts Program. He is currently a staff therapist at The Family Institute. Darryl’s matriculation into the Counseling Psychology Program occurred in a very interesting way. After working for over twenty-five years as an electrician in various companies in Northwest Indiana, in September of 2001 Darryl took early retirement from his job and moved to the North Side of Chicago in order to enroll in graduate studies at Northwestern.

Outside of his work as a therapist at the Institute, Darryl leads a full and active life. He is very active in his church; his personal relationship with God is the foundation upon which his life is based. Deeply devoted to his family, Darryl was for many years a devoted single father and custodial parent of three children—now all adults. Darryl is a serious musician and songwriter. He plays bass at his church, and also in various gospel and jazz groups. Darryl is a lifelong resident of Gary, Indiana.

In addition to his musical interests, Darryl is also a creative writer. He has written a book of inspirational poetry, which he self-published, and a stage play—a major stage production. Darryl states that his overall goal in life is to reach his full creative and spiritual potential so that he may in some way be a positive influence and role model to others.
