Psychological Assessment
Sometimes the exact nature of a psychological or emotional difficulty is challenging to assess through diagnostic interviews alone. A formal psychological assessment involves a battery of tests that can provide the treating clinician with invaluable information about the psychological structure, internal emotional life and cognitive style of the client. The report that comes with the assessment will be shared with the client and his or her therapist in a feedback session, and will provide recommendations for the direction and focus of the therapy, as well as other support services. Psychological assessment services are available for children and adults at The Family Institute.

Neuropsychological Assessment Services
In addition to providing psychological assessments, we have recently expanded this service to include neuropsychological assessments for children and adults.

New research on the brain and the development of innovative test instruments have enhanced our ability to assess the source, extent and dimensions of problems that involve cognitive as well as emotional factors. Disorders of learning, attention and memory, among many other disorders, are now accessible to thorough examination. The report that comes with an assessment provided by a Family Institute examiner will offer valuable recommendations as to how the school, the individual, the physician or the parent can more successfully address the problems identified.

Fees for both psychological and neuropsychological assessment are based on the specific battery of tests used. Insurance will often cover a portion of these services.
