This research project targets young children who are at elevated risk for developing depression by virtue of having a familial history of a depressive disorder. The first phase of this project, a pilot study, has been examining the relationship between parental depression, parental marital conflict and the social-emotional behavior of children between the ages of three and six. This study includes assessment of child emotions, parent-child interaction and parental marital conflict.
