
Catherine Weigel Foy, MSW, LCSW, LMFT
Catherine Weigel Foy is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed marital and family therapist at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. She is a clinical lecturer in Northwestern University's Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy Program.
Ms. Weigel Foy was the former director of The Family Institute Adoptive Families Program. From 1997-2003, she was the associate director of the Northwestern University Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy Program.
She received a master degree in social work in 1980 from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and completed three years of postgraduate training in marital and family therapy and supervision at Chicago's Institute of Juvenile Research. From 1987-97, she was a clinical faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Medical School and trainer with the Family Systems Program at the Institute of Juvenile Research/University of Illinois, Chicago. Since 1980, she has provided clinical expertise in a variety of settings, including community agencies, outpatient mental health, in-patient psychiatry, and group private practice. From 1996 to 1999, she was Associate Editor of the Journal of Feminist Family Therapy, and continues as an editorial board member. She served as a board member of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation licensing and regulatory board for marriage and family therapists from 2000 through 2005.
Ms. Weigel Foy is a clinical member and approved supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
She treats individuals, couples and families, and facilitates a group entitled, "The Mother-Daughter Connection: Empowering Mothers and Daughters for the Middle School Transition."
