Karolina Kowal is a graduate of the Counseling Master's program from The Family Institute at Northwestern University who now works here as a postgraduate fellow. Kowal is experienced in working with individuals and families coping with various life challenges such as depression, anxiety, loss, grief, career transitions, identity formation, perfectionism, divorce, infidelity and histories of trauma. A focus of Kowal's approach is to help her clients feel empowered in the therapeutic process through self-knowledge. She incorporates mindfulness techniques to help her clients explore the deeper connections between their emotional and physical experiences. Kowal believes that creating a working alliance based on the unique needs of each client is the best way to promote healing. She has also been trained in Reiki to further her understanding of the mind-body connection. Prior to her transition into the mental health field, Kowal worked in management consulting.
