Dr. April received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child and Adolescent studies. She is passionate about serving clients in the Chicagoland community using a multidisciplinary approach. Dr. April believes in meeting each individual where they are and tailoring her approach to their unique needs. Because entering into therapy is not always an easy task, Dr. April uses a relational approach. She creates a safe and supportive environment that facilitates a strong working alliance.

Throughout her years of training, Dr. April has worked with individuals who experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, familial discord, emotional dysregulation and complex trauma. Dr. April has worked with children, adolescents and their families in multiple settings, such as community mental health and alternative school placements. She has also worked with young adult clients navigating emerging adulthood concerns. Her dissertation examined the use of improvisational theater in graduate training and she brings this interest in the arts to her therapeutic work.
