Ms. Van Pelt attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for both Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees, where she began her training using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help her clients understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and use this understanding to make life-changing differences in their mental health.

Ms. Van Pelt uses a person-centered, affirming approach along with a variety of therapy modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to help her clients address the pain in their lives and better connect with themselves, others, and what is meaningful to them.
