I never view my clients as those who need to be "fixed." On the contrary, they have always amazed me by their own inner strength, courage and incredible resilience to thrive in the most difficult situations. I feel extremely privileged to be allowed to walk by their side, to be part of their stories and to witness the change.
Dr. Fangzhou Yu-Lewis is a bilingual clinician, counselor, educator, scholar and first-generation immigrant. She teaches Psychotherapy Theories, Multicultural Counseling and Career Counseling graduate courses in the Counseling Program. Dr. Yu-Lewis also serves as a clinical supervisor working with therapists-in-training at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. She specializes in the areas of treating interracial/intercultural couples, grief and loss issues and life-stage transitions.

Publications & Presentations
Dr. Yu-Lewis was the editor of a special issue titled “Asian and Intercultural Influences”, published in The Family Journal in April, 2017. She authored the lead article of this special, “Counseling Intercultural Couples with Asian Ethnicity Origins.” Dr. Yu-Lewis has authored and co-authored several scholarly journal articles on cross-cultural counselor education and marriage and family counseling. Her most recent contribution was three entries on utilizing postmodern approaches in couples counseling which were included in the Encyclopedia of Marriage and Family Therapy.
