About
I work to help clients make meaning of their lived experiences, deepen their relationship with themselves and others, and begin to live more authentically in the present.
Remington “Remi” Mitchell (they/them) is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a graduate of Roosevelt University’s Clinical Psychology (Counseling Practice) program. They are currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work at the Institute for Clinical Social Work.
Remi is trained to work with clients across the lifespan from children to adolescents, and adults. Remi has experience in community mental health, partial hospitalization programs, private practice, and crisis assessment in emergency settings. Their areas of focus include working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and supporting individuals navigating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem concerns, and major life transitions.
Remi’s work is rooted in an integrative and humanistic framework. They believe that therapy begins by meeting you where you are, often at one of life’s most challenging crossroads. Whether you come to therapy seeking clarity, relief, or simply a space to be understood, Remi’s approach invites curiosity, openness, and authenticity. They draw primarily from psychodynamic, client-centered, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and strength-based perspectives to help clients deepen their understanding of how past experiences and relationships shape their present lives.
In their work with parents and families, Remi supports building stronger communication and connection. Their goal is to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to explore their identities, histories, and hopes for the future—ultimately helping them live more freely and authentically in the present moment.
Outside the therapy room, Remi is actively engaged in social justice work, advocating for a more equitable and compassionate world for future generations.
