As psychotherapy clinicians, we often work with older couples who have issues with sex and intimacy. Education on healthy sexuality is often taboo, limiting learning opportunities, especially for older adults who may be unaware of aging's effects on sex and clinicians who work with them.
In this training, we hope to gain insights into aging’s impact on sexuality, appropriate health considerations, harmful myths and effective interventions. By the end, attendees will be better prepared to help older clients navigate sexual health with confidence and understanding.
This seminar will be held in-person at The Family Institute's new office at 444 N. Michigan Avenue, offering you the perfect opportunity to explore our new location if you haven’t had the chance to visit yet. One CEU for the training will be offered for $20. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.
Who would benefit from this training?
- Psychotherapists working with older individuals and couples
- Psychotherapists who would like to know more about issues of aging that impact sexuality and intimacy
Questions we hope are answered through the training:
- What are common misconceptions around sex and aging?
- What biological factors impact sexuality in the aging body?
- What are some interventions for couples and individuals?
