Dr. Sylvia helps clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and empowers them to make the changes they want to see in their lives. Dr. Sylvia received her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Cincinnati and completed her clinical internship at the Cincinnati VAMC, where she received specialty training in trauma-focused intervention for individuals and couples. From her experience working with those who have experienced trauma, Dr. Sylvia understands the importance of creating a collaborative relationship in which her clients feel seen and understood. Dr. Sylvia uses the principles of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and adult family members from diverse backgrounds and strives to understand their unique experiences in treatment.
